Get the Mpox vaccine.
Mpox is a virus that is spread through close physical contact. A majority of mpox cases in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties have been among men who reported sexual or close intimate contact with other men.
The mpox vaccine can help to prevent disease or make it less severe. Gay, bisexual, and transgender/non-binary people who have sex with men should get the first and second dose of the mpox vaccine. Visit the resources below for more information about where to get the mpox vaccine in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties.
Get PrEP.
PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis) is a medication (pills or shots) that reduces your chances of getting HIV if you are HIV-negative.
However, PrEP is not a vaccine, treatment, or cure for HIV or other STIs. Other prevention measures such as condoms and safer sex practices can be paired with PrEP to prevent STIs.
Visit the resources below for more information about where to get PrEP in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties.
Get DoxyPEP.
DoxyPEP (Doxycycline Post-exposure Prophylaxis) is shorthand for an antibiotic commonly used to treat bacterial infections. DoxyPEP can prevent bacterial STIs like syphilis and chlamydia when taken after condomless sex. However, DoxyPEP is less effective at preventing gonorrhea due to the bacteria's resistance to doxycycline. DoxyPEP does not prevent HIV. Other prevention measures such as condoms, PrEP, and other safer sex practices can be paired with DoxyPEP to prevent HIV.
